John Karl Doge/Doege 1832 Journeyman Cabinet maker

Family TreesAnonymous writes "Born in Saxony, lived in Leipzig, Prussia. He married Johanna Elise Steinkopf born in 1839.

I am looking for info of any family here in USA or in Germany.

He imigrated to Buffalo, New York in 1879 with son Herman born 1863. Elise came a year later in 1880 with Children Mary 1868, Anna 1874, Karl 1875 and Emile 1878. George Frederich 1858 also a journeyman did not come and remained in Germany. He married Ernestine Hettig and had 4 daughters and a son George Frederich who Emigrated to USA around 1928 and died in a drowning accident at Sherkston Beach in Buffalo, New York area.

Anna married Karl Vogel around 1890 and shortly thereafter relocated to Baltimore Maryland. She had a large family.

Does any of this fit in with anything anyone else has on Doege families. "

 News: Visiting Pomerania in July

NewsRichard writes "Greetings:
I shall be traveling through Pomerania in late July (2006). I shall be looking for early traces of the Doege family (17th Century). I will leave Krakow about 25 July and drive north to Poznan and Dramburg. Afterward I will drive west to Lubeck. It would be very pleasant to meet any Doeges and to learn more about Pomerania.

 Kr.Wirsitz, Posen, Prussia

Suchen Hilfe / Search HelpHi, Frank! I read on the Doege Family website that you had traced the Wisconsin Doeges from Germany.

My greatgreatgrandmother was Wilhelmine Pauline DOEGE, born in Aniela, Kr.Wirsitz, Posen, Prussia, on 2 January 1834, to Christian and Anna Rosina MAROHN DOEGE. Christian had three wives that I located, and a number of children. Wilhelmine and Johann came to the US somewhere in 1855-57, and went to Marquette County in Wisconsin. I have been unable to trace any of her relatives, many of whom I suspect came here as well.

Do any of the Doege names relate to the folks in Wisconsin that you know of? Her brothers included Ferdinand Christian and Friedrich Gottlieb.

Thanks for your help! Kathryn

If you can help, please send me an email. Thx. Frank
